Dr. Prof. Dawei Shen was born in 1980, Jiangsu Province. He received his B.S. and PhD. degrees in condensed matter physics from the Department of Physics of Fudan University in June 2003 and June 2008, respectively. From Dec. 2008 to Dec. 2010, he carried out post-doctoral work in Department of Physics of Cornell University. There, he developed the first and unique integrated oxide molecular-beam epitaxy and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) system to investigate the novel engineered quantum states of matter, which is the blind spot of traditional ARPES study. He was an associate professor (Jan. 2011~ Dec. 2015) and then a full professor (Jan. 2016 ~ Dec. 2022) at Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, CAS. In 2023, he moved to University of science and technology of China (USTC) and has been the full professor since then. His research focuses on the angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) study of electronic structure of novel quantum materials. He also designed and then built the in-situ ARPES beamline BL-03U at SSRF. As the principal investigator, he is responsible for the Major National project, the National Natural Science Foundation project, and the Pre-research project of CAS. So far, he has been authored or co-authored more than 130 papers published in top peer-reviewed journals, e.g., Nature, Nature materials, Nature communications, PRL and PRX, which have been cited over 5200 times.

Description of Research Group:团队长期从事同步辐射超高分辨角分辨光电子能谱(ARPES)技术发展及其应用研究,聚焦新奇量子态的精密探测与操控等关键科学问题。研制并负责维护国际首条集成同步辐射、深紫外激光等先进光源及分子束外延生长的原位ARPES束线站,关键指标如能量分辨率等国际领先,科学产出自2021连续四年居于国际同类线站首位,并据此实现对系列重要量子材料的超高分辨原位ARPES探测和关键物性微观机理理解。团队包括教授 1 名,副研究员 2 名,博后 1 名,研究生 8 名,隶属于封东来院士主持的低维与界面量子材料研究室,科研条件优良、基础雄厚。
