Dr. Jie Ren is currently a tenure-track associate professor at the University of Science and Technology of China. Dr. Jie Ren, born in November 1993, received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Anqing Normal University and China University of Mining and Technology (Group of Prof. Jingpei Cao) in 2015 and 2018, respectively. Afterwards, he was awarded a CSC scholarship to continue his PhD research at RWTH Aachen University (in Germany) under the supervision of Prof. Regina Palkovits. After receiving this PhD in March 2022, he joined the School of Engineering Sciences at the University of Science and Technology in May 2022.

His main research interests include thermochemical conversion of biomass/CO₂, and preparation and characterization of heterogeneous catalysts. So far, he has received about 20 awards/honors, such as CSC Scholarship, National Scholarship, Outstanding Student of Jiangsu Province, etc., and has won several awards in international innovation competitions. He has published 33 papers in academic journals, such as Journal of Catalysis, Applied Catalysis B, Environmental, Chemical Engineering Journal, etc (>1000 citations, 3 ESI highly cited papers). In addition, he has applied/granted 7 national patents and currently serves as guest editor of Catalysts, editorial board member of Energy, Environment and Chemical Engineering and reviewer of Renew. Sustain. Energy Rev., Appl. Energy, Energy Convers. Manag., Fuel, etc.
