Li Chuang, Distinguished Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of the University of Science and Technology of China, a member of the National High-level Overseas Talents Youth Program, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Hundred Talents Program (Youth Program), and a member of the youth editorial board of VIEW magazine. In 2011, he graduated from the Science Experiment Class (Biology and Chemistry) of Jilin University, and obtained his Ph.D. (Polymer Chemistry and Physics, supervisor: Prof. Dongsheng Liu) from Tsinghua University in 2016. From 2016 to 2021, he was engaged in postdoctoral research at the Simpson-Querrey Institute of Northwestern University (USA). The co-supervisor was Professor Samuel Stupp, a famous supramolecular chemist and academician of the American Academy of Sciences. In June 2021, he joined the Department of Polymer Science and Engineering, University of Science and Technology of China, as an independent PI and set up a functional polymer soft matter material laboratory, focusing on development of new functional polymer hydrogel materials using molecular design, organic synthesis and polymer polymerization, for applications in biomimetic smart materials, biomedical engineering and other fields. He has published articles in internationally renowned journals such as Nature Materials, Science Robotics, Advanced Materials, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Angewandte Chemie International Edition, and Matter, and his research results have been highlighted by journals such as Nature.
