主要从事肠道微生物共生方向及其对宿主获得性免疫功能的研究。研究内容为运用简化的单菌定殖模型对肠道共生中的营养代谢微环境、微生物和宿主获得性免疫发生、成熟及功能行使之间的相互关系等问题的研究和阐释。迄今发表研究论文26篇，其中以第一作者身份的研究成果发表在Nature, Immunity, Cell Research, Nature communications, EMBO J 等杂志，以合作作者身份发表包括两篇Science在内的20余篇文章。H-index = 21, 总引用逾3600次。
