Li Li (M'17) received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electronic engineering from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), Hefei, Anhui, China, in 2011 and 2016, respectively. He was a visiting assistant professor in University of Missouri-Kansas City from 2016 to 2020. He joined the department of electronic engineering and information science of USTC as a research fellow in 2020 and became a professor in 2022.

His main research interest is multimedia compression, including image, video, light field, and point cloud compression. He has authored or co-authored more than 80 papers in international journals and conferences including more than 40 IEEE/ACM Transaction papers, which were cited by more than 2000 times according to Google Scholar. He has 15 granted patents and 10 technical proposals adopted by international and domestic standardization groups. He received the best 10% paper award at the VCIP 2016 and the top 10% paper award at the ICIP 2019. He was the winner of the 2016 ICME challenge on light field image compression. He served as an organizing committee member for ICME 2021, VCIP 2022, and VCIP 2016. He co-organized an image compression challenge and an image compression special session in VCIP 2022 and ISCAS 2023, respectively.
