Yongquan Xue(薛永泉,中国科学技术大学物理学院天文学系教授、博导)obtained his bachelor and master degrees from Peking University in 2000 and 2003, respectively, and his PhD degree from Purdue University in 2008. He was a postdoctoral scholar at Penn State University from 2008 to 2012. In May 2012, he joined the Department of Astronomy, School of Physical Sciences, University of Science and Technology of China through the youth program of the National Innovation Talent program, and has been a professor since. He was funded by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2020. He is mainly engaged in observational studies of active galactic nuclei (AGNs) and X-ray high-energy astrophysics, including X-ray surveys, X-ray transients, AGN demography, variability, physics, feedback and evolution, as well as the coevolution of supermassive black holes and galaxies. As of June 2024, he has published about 130 papers, with a total citation of over 6700 and an H index of 43; among them, one first-authored Nature paper was awarded the top ten astronomical scientific and technological progress in China in 2019, and one first-authored ApJS paper was awarded the China Top Cited Author Award 2019 by American Astronomical Society and IOP Publishing. His MOOC "Introduction to Astronomy" was rated as a national first-class undergraduate course by Ministry of Education of PRC in 2023. He gives popular astronomy lectures on Bilibili, including "Prof. Xue's Astronomy" and so on.
