Zhang Ailin is a Researcher at the School of Physics, University of Science and Technology of China. His research primarily focuses on particle beam-related fields, covering areas such as the design of future high-luminosity colliders, the study and application of beam particle sources, the development of key equipment for advanced integrated circuits, and advanced thin-film materials.
In the field of high-luminosity colliders, he is actively involved in the design and research of the injector for China’s next-generation high-luminosity electron-positron collider — the Super Tau-Charm Facility (STCF).
His work on beam particle sources includes positron sources and various types of ion sources. With deep expertise in positron source physics and technology, he has laid a solid foundation for the linear accelerators of electron-positron colliders. In the areas of high-current ion sources and plasma technology applications, he specializes in ion source research and has independently developed simulation programs for ion sources. Using these tools, he has comprehensively optimized various types of ion sources, enabling their widespread application in practical fields such as ion thrusters, neutron tubes, ion implanters for integrated circuits, sputtering coating, and the growth of novel semiconductor thin-film materials. This has significantly expanded the scope of ion source applications and strongly driven technological advancements in related industries.
To date, he has published over 50 SCI-indexed papers in internationally renowned core journals, led four national and ministerial-level research projects, and holds four authorized Chinese patents.
The research group fosters a free and innovative scientific environment, emphasizing the integration of theoretical research and technical practice. Members have the opportunity to participate in large-scale scientific projects such as the Super Tau-Charm Facility (STCF) to explore cutting-edge particle physics, as well as to translate physical theories into industrial technologies. With substantial expertise in ion beam sputtering deposition for advanced thin-film materials, the group warmly welcomes students from both China and abroad to join.
