Professor Changyong ZHANG is an awardee of the National Excellent Youth Science Foundation project (overseas) and the Talent Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He serves as a doctoral supervisor/master's supervisor. He obtained his doctoral (2019), master's (2015), and bachelor's (2012) degrees from the University of New South Wales, Tsinghua University, and Harbin Institute of Technology, respectively. His primary research areas encompass electrochemical water treatment, water quality purification and resource recovery, environmental functional materials, and the application of data science in the environmental domain.
He has published nearly 70 SCI papers in the field of environmental engineering, including 15 in prestigious environmental journals such as ES&T (Lett.) and 19 in Water Research, with a total of 4175 citations and an H-index of 36. Prof. Zhang has led and contributed to numerous vertical and horizontal projects.
His accolades include the Chinese Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship, Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation from the University of New South Wales, and recognition as an Outstanding Reviewer for the Water Research journal. He holds positions such as a young editorial board member for Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering and Chinese Chemical Letters, guest editor for Frontiers in Environmental Science, reviewer for SCI journals like ES&T, member of the Chinese Youth Committee of the International Water Association (IWA), member of the Expert Committee of the Qingdao International Water Conference, executive director of the Youth Scholars Association of the University of Science and Technology of China, and a member of the American Chemical Society, the International Electrochemical Society, and the Chinese Society of Environmental Sciences.
In addition, he also mentored students to win gold medals in the 8th China International "Internet" College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, won first prize at the provincial level in the "Huaqi Same Source Cup" Anhui Province College Student Ecological Environment Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, won second prize in the 17th National Environmental Protection Technology Competition East China Division, and received original project funding from the "Eagle Fund" at the University of Science and Technology of China, Received the second prize at the school level for summer rural social practice at the University of Science and Technology of China.
The research group is open for postdoctoral positions (applicants should have or will soon obtain a doctoral degree and degree) and research assistant positions (applicants should have or will soon obtain a master's degree or above) all year round. Students with professional backgrounds in environmental science and engineering, municipal engineering, materials science and engineering, analytical chemistry, chemical engineering, computer science, etc. are welcome to join!
