Real-Time Monitoring of Oxygen Released During Charging of Alkaline Zn-air Batteries with a Redox Mediator

In this work, the role of KI as RM in alkaline Zn-Air batteries was comprehensively investigated with the help of in-situ optical observation platform and real-time gas monitoring system. Through the analysis of the amount of oxygen generated during charging, KI is not strictly an RM but a sacrificial agent, and the research method of this work is instructive for finding a trustworthy RM.
