Data-driven evolution of next-generation Zn-air batteries

Data-driven insights have provided invaluable guidance in the pursuit of novel materials and structures for enhancing battery performance in a highly efficient manner. This paper introduces a recent milestone publication in Joule, where Zhang et al. harnessed data-driven analyses of 247 reported bifunctional catalysts to unveil an unprecedented composite FeNC@LDH oxygen electrocatalyst. This breakthrough achieved a record-breaking electrocatalytic activity, surpassing state-of-the-art levels by ca. 60 mV with a remarkable ΔE of 0.57 V.
