About the Lab The Future Media Computing Lab (FMC Lab) at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) is dedicated to cutting-edge research at the intersection of artificial intelligence and future media technologies. Our mission is to advance fundamental theories and innovative applications of AI for media perception, understanding, generation, and interaction.
The lab emphasizes interdisciplinary integration and a balance between theory and application, with a focus on intelligent perception and multimodal interaction in complex real-world scenarios. Embodied Intelligence: Developing intelligent agents capable of perception, reasoning, and decision-making in complex environments, including navigation, manipulation, and human-agent interaction.
Multimodal Foundation Models: Designing unified frameworks that integrate vision, language, speech, and action for robust cross-modal representation, reasoning, and generation.
Video Understanding and Generation: Advancing large-scale video representation learning, event recognition, and video content generation for scientific, industrial, and societal applications.

Achievements and Impact Members of the FMC Lab have published over one hundred papers in premier journals and conferences such as IEEE TPAMI, IJCV, CVPR, ICCV, NeurIPS, ICLR, and AAAI, with several works recognized as highly cited or influential papers. The lab has led and participated in multiple National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) projects, national key R&D programs, and major provincial-level initiatives.
