Zhendong Mao received his Ph.D. in Computer Application Technology from the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2014. Currently, he is a Professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering and Information Science at the University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei, China. Prior to his current position, he served as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Information Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing from 2014 to 2019. His research interests span on cross-modal understanding and generation.

Zhendong Mao has authored over 100 refereed journal and conference papers including IEEE TPAMI, IEEE TKDE, IEEE TIP, CVPR, and ACL (Google Scholar). He was a recipient of the Best Student Paper Award at ACM Multimedia 2022 and the Best Paper Award at PCM 2013. He currently serves as Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Multimedia (TMM) and IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology (TCSVT). He also serves as the Area Chair/PC member at multiple top-tier conferences including CVPR, ICCV, ICML, ACL, NeurIPS, ACM MM, and AAAI. He was awarded the Outstanding Area Chair at ACM MM 2024.
