Transforming the Electrochemical Behaviors of Cobalt Oxide from “Supercapacitator” to “Battery” by Atomic-Level Structure Engineering for Inspiring the Advance of Co-Based Batteries

In this paper, we challenge the deep reaction mechanism in alkaline electrolytes and demonstrate that redox pseudocapacitor behavior on their surfaces is easy to occur due to the low adsorption energy for =OH. The intrinsic electrochemical properties of cobalt-based materials are skillfully tuned through atomic-level structure engineering, opening up new opportunities for the development of energy storage systems.
