Unexpected stable cycling performance at low temperature of Li-ion batteries with Si/C anodes

In this work, a significant performance enhancement of silicon-carbon (Si/C) batteries at low temperatures (-20 °C) was unexpectedly discovered, and the low-temperature modification mechanism of Si on the anode was investigated. This work provides an effective strategy for the stable operation of lithium-ion batteries at low temperatures, and more in-depth mechanistic studies will promote the application of lithium-ion batteries in extreme temperatures such as in space and the deep sea.
