I am a chair professor of physics at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), and Changjiang professor of the Ministry of Education. My research acccomplishments have been widely recognized in the physics community, in the form of a high number of SCI citations and invited talks at various important, large-scale academic conferences.
Throughout my career, I have been working on condensed matter theory and cold atom physics, including superconductivity, superfluidity, quantum manybody effects in ultracold quantum gases and optical lattices. In particular, I have focused on the pseudogap and related phenomena in high Tc superconductors, and have developed the pairing fluctuation theory that has been applied successfully to provide quantitative or semi-quantitative explanations for multiple high Tc experiments. Using this theory, I have studied the superfluid and pairing phenomena in ultracold atomic Fermi gases and associated strong correlation and quantum manybody effects. In addition, together with my coworkers, we were the first who introduced the concept of pseudogap into the field of atomic Fermi gases, which has now been experimentally established. We have made important contributions in various topics in atomic Fermi gases, which not only provide successful explanations for many experiments, but also predict a series of exotic quantum phenomena.
So far, I have authored about 100 SCI papers, published in leading journals, including Science, Nature, Reviews of Modern Physics, Physics Reports (for which I was invited to write the first review article in the field of cold atomic Fermi gases), Reports on Progress in Physics, and Physical Review Letters, with an overall SCI citation of over 3300, and H index =31 (or alternatively, Google scholar citation > 4700, H-index=36), as of Dec 5, 2025.
