Kaiping Xue received the bachelor's degree from the Department of Information Security, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), in 2003 and received the Ph.D degree from the Department of Electronic Engineering and Information Science (EEIS), USTC, in 2007. From May 2012 to May 2013, he was a postdoctoral researcher with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Florida. Currently, he is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Cyberspace Security. He serves as the Director of the Network and Information Center of the University of Science and Technology of China and the Director of the Anhui Provincial Education and Research Computer Network Center. He has been recognized as a National Cyberspace Innovation Talent, a Young Changjiang Scholar of the Ministry of Education, an Outstanding Member of the Youth Innovation Promotion Association of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and an Anhui Provincial Distinguished Teacher. He leads the "Cyber security" Anhui Provincial Excellent Graduate Supervisor Team, received the First Prize of the Anhui Provincial Teaching Achievement Award as the leader. His main research areas include quantum networking, future network architecture design and transmission optimization, blockchain and privacy-preserving computing, and network security protection. He has led and participated in multiple National Natural Science Foundation projects, national major scientific and technological infrastructure initiatives, key research and development projects (including sub-projects), sub-projects of the National 863 Program, and sub-projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology's major special projects. 

He is an IET Fellow, IEEE Senior Member, and CCF Distinguished Member. He serves as an editorial board member for several authoritative SCI journals, including IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security (TIFS), IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing (TDSC), IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications (TWC), and IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management (TNSM). He has also served as a guest editor for some reputed journals/magazines such as IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications (JSAC), IEEE Communications Magazine (ComMag), and IEEE Network, and as the program committee chair for conferences like IEEE QCNC'25, as well as the program committee sub-chair for prestigious international academic conferences such as IEEE ICDCS'24, Globecom'24, and ICNC'24. 

In recent years, he has published over a hundred papers in important domestic and international journals and conferences. He has received Best Paper Honorable Mention Award at ACM CCS'22, Best Paper Awards at MSN'17, IEEE HotICN'19, and IEEE ICC'25, the Best Paper Nomination Award at IEEE MASS'18, and the Best Track Paper Award at MSN'20. He has been listed as a "Highly Cited Chinese Researcher" in the field of "Cyberspace Security" by Elsevier and included in the  the World's Top 2% Scientist lists in “Career-Long Impact” (2023-2025) and “Single-Year Impact” (2020-2025). He holds over 40 authorized invention patents, including three U.S.-authorized invention patents and one EU-authorized invention patent.
