Biomedical Photoacoustic and Ultrasound Imaging
My research field is biomedical engineering, where engineering serves as the foundational discipline, and biomedical applications represent the realization of its research value. The project focuses on advanced biomedical photoacoustic/ultrasound imaging technologies and explores their potential and value in biomedical applications. The research is highly interdisciplinary, integrating knowledge from mechanical engineering, optics, acoustics, electronics, computer science, life sciences, medicine, physics, chemistry, and related fields.
On the engineering side, the work involves the design, development, integration, testing, and optimization of photoacoustic and ultrasound tomography imaging systems. On the biomedical side, it entails applying the developed imaging systems to preclinical studies (involving animal experiments, with strong intersections to life sciences) and clinical research (involving human studies, with strong intersections to medicine). The goal is to investigate unknown biological mechanisms and provide reliable imaging support for the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases.
