Dr. Jie Zhang received her B. S. in chemistry from University of Science and Technology of China in 2011, and moved to University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to complete her PhD with Prof. Steve Granick. She just started her independent research career at University of Science and Technology of China in Oct. 2021, after four years of postdoctoral research withProf. Zvonimir Dogic at the physics department of University of California, Santa Barbara. Jie Zhang’s research has been focused on the collective and multi-scale dynamics of active matter, including synthetic colloids and functional living materials such as microtubules and kinesin motors that are extracted from mammalian cells.
