Our research bridges nanoscale synapse biology and large‑scale spatial omics. At the synaptic level, his lab focuses on the structural mechanisms underlying synaptic transmission and plasticity using single-molecule super-resolution imaging. Key contributions include the discovery of trans‑synaptic nanocolumns. At the systems level, his group has developed a series of imaging‑based spatial multi-omics technologies, enabling subcellular resolution mapping of thousands of gene targets across centimeter-scale brain sections.
Our current research focuses on two interlinked directions:
(1) dissecting the nanoscale structure–function relationships of synapses and their dysregulation in neurological disorders using MINFLUX and other super‑resolution techniques;
(2) developing spatial multi‑omics imaging technologies and the MetaScope platform for high‑throughput, subcellular‑resolution mapping of large tissue sections, with applications in brain-wide circuit analysis and pathology.
