ProfileDr. Shuchen Zhang is currently the Professor of School of Chemistry and Materials Science and Professor of Key Laboratory of Precision and Intelligent Chemistry (by courtesy) at University of Science and Technology of China. He obtained his B.S. in Chemistry from Shandong University in 2012 working with Prof. Jinhua Zhan and Ph.D. from College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering at Peking University in 2017 working with Prof. Jin Zhang. From 2017 to 2019, he was a Postdoc Fellow continue working with Prof. Jin Zhang at the College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering, Peking University. After that, he worked with Prof. Gabor A. Somorjai (a pioneer in surface catalysis) as a one-year Postdoc at Materials Science Division, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. From 2020 to 2023, he was a Postdoc Fellow working with Prof. Letian Dou at Chemical Engineering, Purdue University. He was back to Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory as a project scientist since 2023 and joined University of Science and Technology of China in December, 2023. His research interest includes the controlled-synthesis of low-dimensional semiconducting materials (mainly carbon nanotubes and low-dimensional perovskites) for related optoelectronic properties and device applications, and catalysts design for hydrogen production and storage accompanied with activation and conversion of light hydrocarbons. His work on hydrogen production using molten metal catalysts was awarded the 2023 R&D 100 Winners. He has published over 50 papers (H index = 22 as of Jan 2024). Personal Information
