Our laboratory is dedicated to unraveling the intricate ways bacteria control their division and growth down to the molecular level, while preserving their distinct cellular shapes.
By harnessing an array of advanced techniques—including molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, super-resolution, and single-molecule fluorescence microscopy—we strive
to uncover the intricate structures and dynamic behaviors of cytoskeletal proteins in both different bacteria. Our goal is to explore how these proteins influence the
intricate processes of cell wall synthesis and decomposition.
Core Research Focus Areas:
1. Cell Division Mechanism:
Investigating the molecular intricacies behind the remodling of bacterial cell walls and outer membranes during cell division.
2. Cytoskeletal regulation:
Delving into how prokaryotic cytoskeletal proteins shape the three-dimensional form of bacterial cells.
3. New Imaging Techniques :
Developing cutting-edge, high-throughput super-resolution imaging and single-molecule detection techniques tailored for prokaryotic cells.
