Dr. Manli Zhang is a Research Sientist in the Department of Psychology at the University of Science and Technology, China. She is deeply fascinated by the profound questions surrounding our brain's exceptional capacity for acquiring new knowledge and skills, and more crucially, the significant variations in learning trajectories and outcomes across individuals and contexts. These inquiries not only advance our understanding of cognitive neuroscience and science of learning, but also hold the potential to revolutionize personalized education and training programs.
Manli explores the fine-grained processes and neural representations involved in various types of learning, and their connections to the long-term development of cognitive abilities such as language. Moreover, she seeks to boost learning efficiency by leveraging innovative behavioral and neural regulation techniques. Her research adopts a dynamic, interactive, and integrated perspective on learning and development, highlighting the incremental, transferable, plastic and heterogenous nature of learning. In her future research, Manli aims to harness the theories and methodologies of educational neuroscience to enhance the synergy between teaching, learning, and testing, striving to lift learning barriers and promote neurocognitively tailored education.
